Reaction paper about the JavaScript Interview with Douglas Crockford
The interview is basically about his life being a programmer. It tackles about on how did he start programming and why did he chose to become a programmer instead of being in the media industry.
The way Crockford drew himself into programming was only because he discovered that he is good at it and nothing more. It is surprising that a person pursue something just because he knew that he is good at it. He also shares the way he does programming and on how he manages to modify the code of others. In terms of understanding one’s code, he thinks of it as the most useful thing that the group of programmers should have. He emphasize its importance on a project basis in which the programmers must understand the code of their group mates for it they don’t, it would lead to a larger problem when they will now integrate their work in the large scale that would lead to the delay of the project. Another is that the levels of knowledge of the programmers are different in which there are good project that suppose to teach the others which is not happening on most of the time.
Code reading can help eliminate those problems. On the integration part, if there is code reading, the team can save time in detecting errors instead of using QA. On t the part of learning on the side of the programmers, the good ones are able to give advices to the apprentices and the apprentices are gaining this knowledge that would be helpful to them. It also improves the quality of the code like the neatness, style and readability. If all projects can exercise code reading, it will surely help them in providing quality outputs and saves them time.
