On the Job Training

I had started my On-the-Job Training at Vishay Philippines located at FTI Complex, Taguig City. The company is a manufacturer of different semi-conductor in nature. Even so, they are also have their IT department in which also helps the companies in achieving their goals and objectives by providing them their technological needs in order to accomplish their tasks more efficiently. In line with this, I, as a trainee, also need to contribute with their objective to aid the company in maintaining the best quality on their production lines. I had done it by creating extractors for the company’s products which eventually appear on their corporate websites’ product list section. These extractor projects are done using XSL or the Extensible Stylesheet Language. These projects needed the sample documents in order to get started which include a pdf file and xml file of that specific product. These products are usually group according to their type which makes up a package. A package can be composed of usually 3-4 products but can also be composed of up to 6 products at its maximum or can just be a single product depending on its type. On a usual project timeline, a single package can be done in 3 weeks. These includes the creation of the extractor, the creation of the configuration file, the creation of its designated database table and finally the uploading of the extractor and the sample documents to produced its review page in a form of a web table. This web table looks like a webpage of product lists. As a summary of the tasks that I’m doing in my OJT Company, it is simply a product data management in which we are to convert a given data into another form to which it can be entered in the database and can be interpreted by the program/s that are running behind their corporate website.
